We spent a week in Silverton with our families a couple
weeks ago. It was so nice to be in
Silverton, a place where everything is familiar. It was also wonderful to spend the time with
our families. We were up in town for
many reasons.
Grandma (Mom) & Ernie
On Saturday we were celebrating my mom’s 50th
Birthday and my nephews 1st Birthday. Joe and I headed out with my sister Kelsey to
buy the fixings for ice cream sundaes.
My mom likes maraschino cherries.
We bought the biggest jar we could find.
We spent the rest of the day with family and friends, celebrating life
and enjoying ice cream. Ernie sure liked
the whip cream!
Kasey & Jake
On Friday we met Joe’s family in Brownsville for his brother Jake's wedding rehearsal. Jake is
marrying my friend and former roommate, Kasey.
It was a nice Friday afternoon.
The sun was shining, and Kasey and Jake were so happy. It was also fun to be at someone elses
rehearsal, to watch from the sidelines. Everything was beautiful and coming
together wonderfully.
On Sunday was Kasey and Jake’s big special day. We got up early, bought some sunscreen and
headed to Brownsville. It was 80
degrees outside and just beautiful. The
ceremony was short and sweet and was totally Jake and Kasey. They were beautiful saying their vows to each
other.
Their guest book was cute and unique. She had a page with drawing of tree and on
the trunk of the tree was their initials and wedding date. Everyone thought that Kasey drew it, but she
bought it on etsy.com, what a great site!!
I think she bought many things for their wedding on Etsy.com. ( Hope I didn’t
give away your secret Kasey!) Anyway,
everyone stamped their fingerprint on the tree and signed it. Great idea for guest book, and it turned out
wonderful.
The reception went very well. Again, it was so nice and beautiful
outside. The tables were cute. The center pieces were pictures of both Kasey
and Jake's families wedding pictures. One
table had Kasey parents, and another Jake's parents…and so on. What a fun idea! They had homemade blueberry jam made from
their own blueberry bush as favors. The
food looked great and tasted even better.
They did a great job of picking out food! Their
cake was super cute! It looked amazing,
and again tasted even better.
Visiting Family
I spent the rest of the week visiting family and
friends. I got to visit with some people
I haven’t seen since we moved. It was
nice to catch up. One day I went with my
Mom to work. She is a third grade
teacher and it was a lot of fun to hang out in her class for the day.
That about sums up my week in Silverton. It was great to spend time with everyone, but
on the last day, Joe and I were both ready to head home, to our house and our
kitties.
